SICARÚ: All Things Beautiful

Sicarú: All Things Beautiful brings together flutist Ráyo Furuta and the Del Sol Quartet for a powerful program of new and recent works for flute and string quartet. Centered on themes of beauty, memory, identity, and resilience, the project features four world premieres, including new music commissioned for Furuta by Ivette Herryman Rodríguez and Erin Busch through Gabriela Lena Frank and the American Composers Forum, alongside a California Arts Council supported work co-composed by Andrea Gutierrez and Furuta that uplifts the stories and voices of California’s farmworkers. The program also includes Errollyn Wallen’s evocative All the Blues I See and a world premiere for String Quartet by Nicky Sohn, creating a rich and deeply expressive concert experience that celebrates collaboration, cultural storytelling, and the extraordinary possibilities of flute and strings.
